I'm totally down with the tarp idea. It's so insanely messy! Stella now being 3, isn't much better at keeping food on her plate and off the floor then she was at 1. Having carpet is pretty much the WORST senario with toddlers and food... I feel ill about having 3 of them at the table soon.

Oh lord, THE MESS. It is unbelievable! I still can't get my head around my babies not being babies anymore. I'm thinking I probably never will! Saffron likes to dress herself. At 18 months!!!! She growls and strips if we try to help. But how fun now that they can talk ... even if only a bit! I love it.

HA! I have a similar photo - I thought my son Max was eating the fresh blueberries I had bought from a local farmer. Nope! He was eating my favourite blue fountain pen.

BTW. Did you all know that teeth CAN turn totally blue, and need to be brushed for 3 days before turning the right colour again? Also: we still laugh about Max's Smurf pee.

Reminds me of when my mum went into my nieces room that she has set up at her house, and was like "what is that smell?" And it was eucalyptus smell and my niece and my mums 13 month old foster child were both spitting all over the floor and Charlotte was rubbing her mouth all over the carpet, and mum saw the half empty container of the Eucy-bear rub (which is for the babies chest to help them breath when they're all stuffy), and they'd both devoured nearly half the tub.. No wonder their mouths were burning! It was funny, but we felt sad for them because the burning didn't go away for a while. It was harmless, just tasted funny!!
Babies, they do funny things! ;-)
